The Japanese have a lovely tradition of sending New Year's cards. Unfortunately, my New Year's greeting are a bit late, 済みません, sumimasen — meaning I am sorry. But I wish you a Happy New Year — 明けましておめでとうございま す, Akemashite omedetou gozaimasu — 新年恭喜，身體健康， 萬事如意， 心想事成, Xīnnián gōngxǐ, shēntǐ jiànkāng, wànshì rúyì, xīn xiǎng shì chéng, meaning Health, luck, and your heart's happiness in the New Year!

We celebrated my sister's birthday at Lola restaurant. What a great experience!
We made a reservation (we had a party of 8). The service was great. The baked granola was outstanding as was the gravlax. And you wonder why everyone is living in Belltown. Like you step out your condo, and without parking or driving, you are in this warm, inviting place redolent with the smell of fresh espresso and pancakes.

I'm still not over my disposable chopsticks obsession. While browsing gift stores in Taiwan and in Epcot Center in Disneyworld, however, I came across a great solution to the problem of those ugly, resource gobbling "conveniences" we know as disposable eating utensils.
