Habitat Mart was pleased to participate in the Great City Fête du Flâneur on February 25 at Melrose Market on Capitol Hill. Featuring the decorating and planning effort of program coordinator and flâneur-in-chief at Great City, Paul Chasan, as well as the participation of Free Unicorn Rides [F.U.R.], The Light Table Collective, and Deborah Barnes of FashionRip.blogspot.com, this celebration and fundraiser epitomized the convergence of art, sustainability and Seattle politics. Guests included Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn, founder of Great City, and Deputy Mayor Daryl Smith, as well as a diverse crowd of partygoers and supporters including Dr. Carlton Roos, Seattle radiologist; Fumiko, local Japanese cooking class instructor; and Nick Dimiduk of Drawn to Scale, Pioneer Square start-up in cloud-scale data solutions. We missed seeing Roniq Bartanen, our globe-trotting photographic muse, but Harlan Chinn, Seattle-area architect and previous AP photographer captured the mood perfectly. Don't forget the food and beverages courtesy of Sitka and Spruce, Stellina Catering, Pike Brewing Company, and Finamore Spirits, and also the riotous mock burlesque of Lily Verlaine. Be sure to check out the photos from Light Table Collective members Riisa and Liz for more about this inspired group and the creations that made the mood of the fête.
